There is an undeniable trend in photography and videography that we've all been aware of for some time: mobile is taking the lion's share of everything. Now, that isn't to say dedicated cameras can't outperform mobile in many areas — they can — but mobile has accessibility and utility that acts as an edge that cameras cannot overcome.
I don't feel worried for the photography industry, perhaps naively, because mobile phones and dedicated cameras work rather well side-by-side and I use my iPhone for an enormous amount of non-crucial photography and videography. My phone is more than enough for a lot of uses and if it was all I had, I would look to master it. This is what I like about mobile photography and videography: although it cannot do some things that dedicated cameras can, if you're innovative, you can create incredible results anyway.
This video by YCImaging is about some of the best filmmaking accessories for the new iPhone and if you find yourself using yours a lot for content creation, these might help elevate your work.
A minor thing; he keeps saying "hot shoe". That is not a "hot shoe". It's just a shoe. Good video.
Beat me to it. I've always heard cold shoe if it doesn't have electrical contacts. I was going to cut him slack. We all slip up, but he repeated "hot shoe."
