Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM

Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM

Who It’s For:

This lens is Canon’s top of the line professional super telephoto lens for sports, and nature photographers. Pair it with a fast Canon DSLR and you’ve got yourself a mean combo.

What We Like:

Autofocus: The autofocus on this lens is very fast and super accurate

IS: Canon says you get 2 stops extra, which, while not as good as the Nikon model, is still pretty good.

Bokeh: This lens produces some gorgeous bokeh.  If you absolutely need the background to be completely soft, this is a great lens.

Distortion: There is a  minimal amount of distortion on this lens, which is excellent.

Sharp: This lens is fantastically sharp. This is one of the sharpest lenses that Canon makes.

What We Don’t:

Size: This is a massive lens, and is definitely not for hand holding. Invest in a good monopod.

First, it is a "4 stops" IS system - you should get your specs right - and second, it is 1.5 lbs lighter than its Nikon counter part.
