Is Canon Gearing Up to Release a 'Holy Trinity' of Lenses for RF Mount in July?

Reports suggest Canon is to release a "holy Trinity" of L-series mirrorless lenses – those being the 15-35mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm f/2.8. The launch is apparently scheduled before the end of July, with all three compatible with its full-frame mirrorless RF mount cameras.

As per Canon Rumors’ report:

We’re told that all three 'should' be officially announced and available at the same time, and likely before the end of July 2019.

The set of lenses so earned their name due to consisting of the three main focal ranges that cover the vast majority of photographic work. Some regard it that a significant number of professionals won't adopt a new camera until the three lenses in question are available for purchase. The Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM is great for landscape images, while the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM is the standard zoom, and the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM provides telephoto coverage great for wildlife and sports. All three have a fast f/2.8 aperture and are part of Canon's red-ringed signature L-series. Whether their release will result in a surge in sales remains to be seen.

Were these to be released, they’d make up half of Canon’s promise to release six lenses for its full-frame mirrorless system by the end of 2019.

What Canon lacks in silicon (sensors) they make up glass. These offerings really show Canon in for the long haul for RF mirrorless.

Building up to the R Pro to be released in 2020, right? What a fantastic kit that would be.

Start saving up 10k for this setup 🤣

I already have the 16-35/4, 2470/2.8 II , 70200/2.8 IS II; And everything works fine on the R too. I don't mind using the adapter, but the small-form-factor 70200 looks nice...(*..goes counting money in the bottom drawer...*)

That's identical to my viewpoint right now. I'm happy with the control ring adapter an my EF lenses, including the Triumvirate of the 16-35/4, 2470/2.8 II , and 70200/2.8 IS II. And I agree the small form-factor of that RF 70-200 looks inviting.

But, dang, that control ring adapter is very nice, and I like the fact that the adapter puts the control ring into a standard position close to the body--which is were all the RF lenses should be wearing their control rings. That almost mitigates against migrating to RF lenses for still work.

If I were using the EOS R primarly for video, I'd leap on the filter slot adapter. The fact that Canon has made the EOS R an ideal little brother in several ways to their EF mount cinema camera, plus the drop-in filter adapter, mitigates against video shooters migrating to RF lenses.
