Who It's For:
The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is a professional telephoto lens and one of the three lenses that any professional photographer with a Canon camera will own (Along with the 16-35mm and 24-70mm). It’s expensive, but it’s tack sharp and built like a tank and ready for years of heavy use.
What We Like:
Sharpness: This is one of the sharpest 70-200mm lenses we’ve seen.
Distortion: The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM has a very small amount of distortion, a lot less at f/2.8 than a lot of other lenses we’ve seen.
Image Stabilization: The IS on this camera is rated to 4 stops of improvement.
Case: This has nothing to do with actual photography, but the camera comes with a very nice padded case standard which makes storage and transport much easier.
Weight: This seems counter intuitive, but for a lens of this type, if it has decent weight to it, it’s going to be easier to stabilize.
What We Don’t:
Price: While it’s comparable to other professional 70-200mm lenses, it’s still very expensive which will be a big barrier to some people.
