As promised, today Phase One is starting shipments of its IQ3 100MP Achromatic digital back. To further show off its capabilities, the company has also launched two new videos showcasing Portrait Photographer Rick Wenner and Landscape Photographer Steve Gosling. In these videos, each professional photographer speaks about their attraction towards black and white imagery and the experience of photographing with the IQ3 100MP Achromatic.
For Wenner’s feature, he ventured to The Race of Gentlemen which is an annual drag racing event. You couldn’t plan for a better time to use the Achromatic digital back, as the event has all guests dressed in pre-1960s attire with old, pre-war era hot rod automobiles and motorcycles.
Gosling took a much quieter approach, instead journeying to to the English and Scottish countryside. Along with the Phase One XF camera system, he also employed the use of the A-series technical camera system to shoot with the Achromatic.
The IQ3 100MP Achromatic digital back creates true black and white images at the sensor level by completely removing the Bayer color filter present on most all digital cameras produced today. You can learn more on the Phase One website.
