When I started photography, Sigma lenses felt like cheap alternatives you buy if you couldn't afford the real thing. Now, they are a powerhouse making great lenses, loved by many and desired by even more. One of the highly anticipated new lenses out of Sigma Towers is the Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary and that is what Arthur R gives his first impressions of here.
The Contemporary range of lenses has an excellent reputation for their sharp, fast, and affordable line-up, and it seems the 23mm will fit nicely. I had always struggled to find a place for fast and wide glass in my kit bag, but having had a few on loan for various press trips, I've really warmed to them. They take some practice to get the most out of and it is easier than ever to come away with bland shots, but if you get it right, they can create fantastic results.
