Do you have a lens, camera, or a drone that you no longer need or use? Reluctant to sell via online marketplaces? Perhaps it's time for an upgrade and you want to earn some extra money to put towards the latest and greatest gear. MPB values your camera, and I will show you how.
MPB Values Your Camera
MPB is the largest global platform to buy, sell, and trade used photography and videography gear. As a regular customer myself, I find the process to sell any camera gear that no longer meets my needs or is gathering dust on the shelf simple and easy to use. Selling to MPB is completely risk-free, unlike selling on online marketplaces like Facebook, etc. The control is with you, as your gearis insured and covered at every stage of the process, from the moment your free collection is arranged via a courier up until you receive the payment for your items.
The process of selling your gear couldn't be easier, and you are free to change your mind at any point, up until you get paid. If you're not happy with the quote, MPB will happily return your gear to you free of charge.
How to Sell Your Camera Gear
On the MPB site, you can find out exactly how much your gear is worth, and it couldn't be simpler. Using MPB's Pricing Engine, they will provide the right price for any camera or lens.
The interface is straightforward and easy to use. You can simply start typing in the product you wish to sell in the box below, and as you are typing, it will come up with suggestions that should match your item. Once found, you just need to choose the condition of your item.
In this example, I am selling a Canon EOS R5 in Excellent condition. When you have entered your item, you can progress to the next page to receive your Instant Quote, or you can continue adding items to the quote should you have several items to sell. As I am only selling the Canon R5, I will now move to the Instant Quote using MPB's Pricing Engine. As we can see above, I have now received my quote, which took only a matter of seconds. The quote for my Canon R5 in Excellent condition is £2,175. As MPB buys camera gear and sells it on, I believe this is a fair price, especially considering it is a no-fuss process.
If you are happy with the prices offered, you can continue to book a free doorstep collection via a courier on the next page and choose a date that suits you. This is such an easy way to sell from the comfort of your own home, while also having the peace of mind that your gear, once collected, is fully insured, from collection to payment.
When packing your items, please ensure all accessories that were included with your camera when you bought it are packed up — battery, charger, strap, etc. If any accessories are missing, there may be deductions once your item has been checked.
Also, please remember to remove your memory card from the camera before shipping.
What Happens Next?
When your gear has been collected and delivered to MPB's warehouse, it is then up to the Product Specialists to evaluate your items. The Product Specialists make sure your estimated condition rating matches the actual condition of the items. MPB has five condition ratings:
- Like new: Minimal use with zero signs of use, or kept in original packaging since purchased brand new. Lenses may only contain a minimal amount of dust, if any at all (1-2 specs maximum).
- Excellent: Minor signs of use, with only surface-level cosmetic wear. No marks on lens glass. Lenses may include some light dust. Performance is unaffected. A large number of bodies and lenses are in this category.
- Good: Noticeable wear and tear to key parts of the body. No marks on lens glass. Lenses may show signs of dust. Performance is unaffected.
- Well used: Significant scuffs and scratches, wear and tear to the LCD, chipped paint, missing port covers, and/or sticky shutter buttons. Lens zoom or focus ring may be slightly stiff. Lenses may show a considerable amount of dust. Performance is mostly unaffected.
- Heavily used: High number of scratches throughout the body, wear, or peeling on the grips. Some functions are affected, such as built-in flash or non-essential buttons. Lenses may show a considerable amount of dust.
Payment
After your gear has been checked by the Product Specialists, you will receive an email confirming the final price of your item(s). If everything was as described, you should receive the full quote. However, any missing items or different condition could result in a change of final price. This could be higher or lower than originally quoted.
If you are happy to accept the final quote, you can click on the link provided in the email, and this will let you enter your payment details. As soon as you have completed the payment information and submitted it, you should receive your payment within two working days.
Resell
When your gear has been sold to MPB, MPB will list the items on their website for others to purchase. This also means that now, you have money burning a hole in your pocket and an itch to buy that new lens, and you can use MPB to buy gear at cheaper prices than buying it brand new.
I've decided to switch to the Sony a7R V and searched the camera on MPB. I can see there are three camera bodies available and if I click on to that listing, I can then see what options are available based on the condition rating:
I can then look through each one and see what's included in the box and make an informed decision over which one I would like to purchase. It's as easy as that, and any used gear bought from MPB is covered by their standard six-month warranty. Also, if you find the item isn't as described, you can return it free for a full refund within 14 days of arrival.
So, if you are a photographer or videographer looking to sell your old gear, trade in your gear, or purchase something new, MPB is a fantastic one-stop shop available to you and offers great peace of mind throughout, whether you are buying or selling.
I find they low-ball you on quotes..an excellent r5 will sell for 2500 in no time on Fred Miranda
MPB is good for selling off your used gear in decent workable condition. But they balk at anything that has an obvious flaw or needs to be repaired, like the AF not working on my Sigma 300-800mm or the cracked rear screen and totally scuffed off paint on my 5D Mark 4 or the scratches on the front element of my Canon 100-400mm EF. They literally won't buy anything I have to sell.
