iPhone 15 Pro Wins Best Camera Award 2023

Camera phones are now being taken more seriously than ever before. The improvements in technology have made it so that the results you can produce with a smartphone, in many cases, can rival those of "proper" cameras. And this year, one major award has been given to Apple for its latest flagship phone.

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro received the award for having the best camera for 2023 from Marques Brownlee. Also known as MKBHD, Brownlee has become one of the most respected voices in the tech industry. Receiving an award from him is now quite a sought-after accolade for many smartphone manufacturers.

The latest awards from Brownlee cover a wide range of categories such as Best Design, Best Compact Phone, Best Battery, and of course, the Best Smartphone of 2023. Although the Apple iPhone 15 Pro did not win the main award, winning the award for having the best camera is certainly something to write home about. Brownlee explained that the iPhone won this award because "when it comes to a totality of performance across the biggest variety of situations for photos and videos, the iPhone is still king."

Additionally, Apple also won the award for having the best battery this year, although this award was given to the iPhone 15 Plus and not the Pro model. Of course, the whole award ceremony wasn't just about Apple. Brownlee offers awards to several different manufacturers for various categories.

To find out who won in each category, check out the full video linked above.

Just my opinion, but I think it's just a matter of time Apple will design a large sensor mirrorless camera to compete with the likes of Nikon, Sony, Canon, Fuji, etc. with an operating system to allow many of their apps to run, especially connectivity. As Apple has evolved beyond a computer and cellphone maker, it needs to expand its portfolio to compete with technology giants from Japan, South Korea, and China. I envision something of the opposite of their cell phone. Rather than a smartphone with camera/video capabilities, a true camera with all the necessary features for professionals and enthusiasts with sophisticated and customizable applications.

Definitely not. Lot more ppl will shift from big cameras to smartphones as technology is getting better and better. Smartphones has replaced compact cameras already. There will be only few photography fields hard to get smartphones in such as wild life and sports, but for landscapes, portraits, product photos or real estate you can easily get in with smartphone already today because very little people will actually print...

That is probably just because companies such as Huawei was banned from US/EU market... I was actually planing to get ip15 pro max this year, but after the disappointing release and the specs I am waiting for ip16 and hope some magic will be done. I find iPhone to be really behind technology of today. Super fast charging, longer reach of optical zoom is probably 2 things keeping me away. The only thing I find good on iPhone is the apps which are developed for iPhone only... But the phones itself from photographers perspective are nothing special... I mean compare 13, 14 and 15...

I just bought an iphone 15 pro, not because I needed a camera but because my 5 year old iphone wasn’t working anymore. I just needed a phone, sms, mail device. I couldn’t care less about the cameras. I found a deal with a 25% discount. In my opinion the iphones and others have become way too expensive. My old iphone was an XR. An iphone 15 is many generations newer, unless I put them side by side there isn’t much of a difference, if you disregard the cameras. I am sure a lot of people will love the new cameras. I am not one of them. I like taking photos. But I find an iphone camera killing every bit of fun and creativity.

Another quality Usman Dawood article 🤣
It won the award by 1 influencer, that's about as much worth as a Bestbuy employee telling you it's the best camera phone. In blind tests by Phone Arena, the Pixel 8 Pro crushed the iPhone 15 Pro Max: In 12 of 14 rounds people preferred the Pixel photos.

Considering what he’s achieved and the fact that the manufacturers themselves take it seriously, I think he’s earned a position of authority.

I mean 4 million views on a single post. That’s close to what Phone Arena manages in a whole month including their YouTube channel…

A position of authority doesn't make a point. Here's your logical fallacy: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/appeal-to-authority

Subjective issues don't fall under that fallacy, I mean how could they?

Key word in that whole sentence that you missed was the word "true".
