At just 4.76 oz (135 g) and 1.26 inches long (32 mm), the 16-50mm is extremely light and compact, making it an excellent walkaround lens. It includes one extra-low dispersion element for reduced color fringing and improved clarity, four aspherical elements to minimize distortion and spherical aberrations and for improved sharpness, Super Integrated Coating for reduced flares and ghosting and deeper contrast, stepping motor with full-time manual override, vibration reduction of up to 4.5 stops, programmable control ring, and rounded seven-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh. At under $300 or even cheaper if purchased as part of a kit with the Z 50 mirrorless camera, it looks to be a potentially very popular option for Nikon shooters. Early this year I bought a Z50 for travel and was lucky to be able to get to Hawaii for a while before the virus hit. I couldn't be more pleased with the camera and the 16-50 lens, so easy to carry around, but plenty sharp and with no excessive vignetting.
