I am on vacation currently, and I visited Rend Lake in southern Illinois. Since I am gone, I don't have proper access to my editing PC, but I have run a few pictures through Pixlr to give me an idea of how I want them. I also have included a few that aren't edited of the gulls on the ground. How do my pictures look? I'm new to this kind of wildlife pictures, and would appreciate any kind of guidance, whether that is critique on my preliminary edits, or it's help on the others. Either way I had a lot of fun capturing these shots.
Taken with a Nikon D5600, paired with a 70-300 mm f/3.5-6.3 at variable focal lengths.
Love the first one!
Thank you! Did I make the highlights too bright on that one? I was pretty close to clipping the shoulder.
That is subjective and highlights are not bad in all cases. At most, I would probably add a wee bit more contrast using the black point.
I agree. The highlights are perfect in my eyes. I think maybe darkening the blacks would add a little more detail and dramatic effect. Either way its a great shot!!
Love the first as well
Thank you!
Really like that first one too. Would love to see a whole series with that look. It has a very "art" feel to it and I really like that. I would have believed that it was a graphite drawing by a very accomplished artist had it been presented as that. Beautiful.
