What's in your [film] bag?

What are y'all shooting with for your film work? 35mm, medium format, LF, Polaroids?

Bonus brownie points for including pictures.

I'm currently all 35mm on a Nikon F100. Cool thing about the F100 is that it shares all the Nikon glass I shelled out for on my digital kit plus it feels and works like a "normal" modern camera.

Typically I shoot with a 35mm camera, completely manual. I like infared photography so that's really the only way to go about it unless I convert a digital body. I have several cameras but my Pentax K1000, which is my first camera I got when I was 16, is still my favorite.

I'm looking into purchasing some medium and/or large format equipment in the next year or so though. I work in construction, am going back to school for archaeology/historic preservation, and in order to document historic places for the National Archives it has to be shot in medium-large format film.

NO WAY! That's beyond rad. Are you using IR film, then?

Yes and no. Kodak discontinued their IR film. The Ilford SPX 200 looks IR but isn't a true IR film. There are some differences but it's the close enough when all is said and done. And SPX is a little more forgiving than true IR film.

Right on. Every once in a while I'll see IR stuff on eBay but it's always a fortune.

The color IR is a fortune, which is crazy since it's not all discontinued, but I don't shoot color IR (I forget other people shoot in color at all since I'm pretty much locked in to B&W). The Kodak HIE I've seen on eBay for varying prices. I paid $16 a roll back in 2002 and I've seen HIE expired in that year for $20 a roll. If it were coming from someone I knew, maybe. But we're talking about film that we are trusting has been sitting in a freezer in complete darkness for a decade. I guess it just depends on if you like the gamble.

The Film Photography Project sells color IR film. For b&w I use Rollei IR 400.

The trusty Leica M3 and the X100S are in my daily bag. I always have an extra couple rolls of film and my light meter as well. I keep a Moleskine notebook for random ideas that I know I'll never remember later and inside that is a field notes, notebook for keeping my film notes.

Minolta X-700...my first "real" camera. I only have the orignail 50mm but man, its a great lens. I've been thinking lately of picking up a Nikon F2AS so I can use all my Nikon glass.

I have an old 1V that is my go-to for work, a Rollei 35S that goes everywhere with me and a Mamiya 645AFD for portraiture. The Mamiya with some good Ilford is one of my absolute favorite camera setups, film or digital. I've attached some samples; the girl in the stripe shirt is a portrait on the Mamiya with the 80/2.8, the street shot was when I saw an adorable roaming dog in Paris and grabbed my Rollei, knowing I wouldn't get my digital out of the bag in time and the other girl is my lovely girlfriend with the 1V and the 100/2.8L.

Awesome setup! I don't know if the 1V counts as old though. :)
I've been ogling a 645AFD for a while now.

Hahaha good point, Austin! The 1V AF and handling still blows my digital bodies out of the water! :) I totallllly recommend the 645AFD. I'd be happy to answer any questions about it if you'd like!

Thanks man! I'll probably end up picking your brain about it some time in the summer once I've recouped from my latest photo-related purchase! :)

Anytime, Austin! Always happy to chat gear!!! Congrats on the new purchase! :)

I shoot 35mm occasionally. I completely replaced digital over December/Jan 2014/2015
I only have a "Beginner" EOS 5000, but it lets me use all my Canon lenses which I love, and the feeling of developing, and scanning your own photos is such a thrill [Although I really do need to take more care in the darkroom, with my film]

This has been my analog kit as of late and a few books I've unearthed from the deep confines of my closet for a little inspiration. Nikon EM point & shoot mostly for daily street/family candids, the F4 I use when I need a bit more control over my exposure. As far as glass I carry 4 primes, 28mm, 50mm, 85mm and 100mm. I also use the Exif4Film app to log my shots

Beautiful kit! This is definitely JCH worthy!

Hi , glad im in this group and look forward to posting some film shots for you, like Alex i also have the Canon 1V which i love, what i love is its built like the Cold War era eastern block machinery, its just tuff as nails and performs out of this world, Im primarily a street photographer and these are my other cameras i use, Leica MM, Fuji x100s and Hassy 500series,,,,, looking forward to seeing what you guys/girls have got,,, cheers Justin, Melbourne, Australia

I shoot 120 generally. Using a Yashica Mat TLR for a lot of stuff.

Have a Pentax KM I believe the predecessor to the popular K1000.

Favourite films, Fuji neopan 400 is really nice. Velvia is always special although more expensive as I can't develop it myself :)

Also have a Kodak kdk which I am repairing the bellows on and converting to 120. Did a blog post here if people are interested: http://www.mcr-street.com/2015/03/kodak-kdk-six-16/

I have a Yashica film camera that I was gifted. It comes with a 35mm prime lens. I haven't used it yet as I'm terrified of making a mistake. Funny thing is I grew up shooting film. But now that I tae it seriously as a craft it feels different. Yuh know?

The ones I use the most are a Nikon F100. Mamiya 645 AF, Polaroid 210

I have a foot in each camp and shoot a Nikon F6 and Canon 1V. I recently switched from Ilford HP-5 to Neopan and from Portra to Ektar. I use a Meta35 to download my shooting data and gaf tape for everything else.

I mostly shoot digital but some time ago I re-discovered film and completely fell in love with it. At the moment I shoot on 35mm - with Nikon F3 and 50mm f/1.4 lens. I only just bought a 100mm f/2.8 lens which is perfect for portraits - can't wait to test it out!

My dream now is to buy some medium format camera, maybe Pentax 67II. I've attached a couple of photos shot on my lovely Nikon F3 on TRI-X 400 film :)

I always carry a 120 and one 135 camera. I swap between Mamiya m645 1000S, Kowa SIX, and many Minoltas (I am Minolta Collector) but mainly X-700, XD and Alpha 7.

About 60% of my work is done with the F100, but the rest can be anything.

My film bag has changed hundreds of times. I've been through an incredible amount of bodies and different compacts to throw around. The two real constants have been my M6 and Ricoh GR1 (a couple of them)

My latest travel/day to day setup has been the X100S and M6, but I'm contemplating retiring the Fuji and getting back to shooting the M6 and simply printing more. I miss that.
The other body that sits in my bag is a Canon 30v with something like the Sigma 50 or Canon 135. Oh, and fistfuls of film.

I'm new to the group.
My main film shooter is a Nikon FE2 & 50mm f1.8. Others include a Minolta Hi-Matic F, x-700 and a Yashica Electro 35 GSN.

My DD is a Canon AE-1 that I snagged on eBay and repaired. My latest fix is a Canonet 17. Deepest repair I've done by far. I'm working on getting a Graphlex Century Graphic set up so I can start playing with MF, too.

I use my F5 with an MN-30 battery pack plus one spare. Due to it's weight, I only take the Bronica GS-1 out if I know I will need it. I take plenty of B&W film, usually FP4 and a couple of rolls of colour film. In the corners of my bagare filters, holders, micro-fibre cloths and a light meter. Lenses will be two primes and two zooms.

Here is my go-to in my film bag. I usually shoot with the Nikon 24mm F2, Sigma 35mm 1.4, Nikon 58 1.4, and Nikon 85 1.4 when shooting film.

I have a nikon N80, though I haven't used it since about 2000. Kept it around since it uses all the same glass as my digital kit. I honestly don't see much point in 35mm film though (other than learning how to shoot/develop), especially when workflow with digital is so much faster/cheaper/easier. I actually stopped shooting it when I bought a Seagull TLR and Mamiya RZ67. Loved medium format and shot both of those for a while before I lost regular access to a darkroom and starting selling them off to further my digital and studio kit.

Currently I work mostly in digital, but still love shooting with my Toyo 45. No matter how good digital is, there is still something about large format film, especially when combined with the movements offered by large format, that is magical and cannot (yet) be replicated on digital sensors.

I have a couple but my Mamiya 645 gets the most use. Here's one from the armpit of Jersey I took last week.

Graflex Crown Graphic, Minolta SRT 101, and Nikon FM2N which I used to make the attached image. :D

I currently carry a Rolleiflex 2.8 for my BW work. Love the TLRs. Since I am wearing glasses most of the time it is a pleasure to compose with both eyes and not scratch the glass on a viewfinder. :)
For color and experiments I use a Canon A1 with a 50mm lens my dad bought in the 80s. For travel I lately switched to BW on the Canon and use a Minox 35 GL for color. It is really a fun little camera wtih a unique flare and fits in every pocket.

If I am shooting 35mm, it will be with either my Pentax MX or my Canonet QL17 G3. I usually will carry a 120 camera with me at the same time and that will either be my Bronica ETR, a Yashica mat EM, or a Zeiss Ercona folder.
