Traditionally, superzoom lenses have been avoided for professional work because of the optical compromises that must be made to create such a big zoom range in addition to their slow apertures, but in recent years, we have seen some impressively capable options. And it seems landscape photography might be one of the best genres for superzoom lenses, as you rarely shoot at maximum aperture, which helps to mitigate some of the image quality issues. Furthermore, reducing the weight in your camera bag is always a good thing, particularly when you are going on long hikes to get the shots you want.
