The New Amaran F22c LED Light Is Crazy

Continuous, LED lights have become stronger and more affordable over the past decade, to the point where they're challenging a lot of strobes. The new Amaran LED might just top them all, however.

Some years back I tried a continuous LED light for the first time for photography, and despite it having good output for the time, it was almost unusable. It put me off for quite a while and I decided it would only be useful for video and even then, you'd need several. Then, around two years ago, I had the opportunity to try some new LEDs at a lighting store and was pleased to see we've come a long way. I bought one that fit my needs and have used it ever since.

I have used continuous LED lights for magazine editorial portraiture, commercial product work, corporate headshots, and environmental portraits in all manner of conditions and situations. They are lightweight, they don't get hot, the batteries last for a long while, they're portable, and there's no need to experiment with settings as you can see it in liveview. What's crazy is, the LEDs I have been using aren't even that great compared to some of the new lights I own and some of the new lights being released, like this Amaaran F22c RGBWW.

Have you used LED lighting much? What do you think of it?
