Dune Lines #2

Image #2 in a study of dune lines.

In the back country of White Sands Dunes National Park the world appears infinite. Senses both sharpened and lost in waves of rolling hills and wending valleys--a sea of white minimalism. Easy to get lost and even easier to get mesmerized.

Steve ? lack of not only DOF, but what's up with blurry ares here and there especially in areas that appear to be in your focal plane ? What was your aperture set at? Otherwise love the composition!

Hi Paul! Thanks for reaching out--the blurry areas in the main band of the dune are actually all in focus but it has this crazy illusion of fuzziness due to the way the sand has been shaped by the elements (that is partially why I like this image so much). It goes from super sharp in the middle of the band to fuzzy but it is all in the same relative plane. I shot this at f14 and the DOF is challenging because I was at 500mm and there is a great distance between the front most dune and the back most dune.
