Land of the Midnight Sun. Took this shot on July 21, 2019, at 12:02 AM off Ilulissat, Greenland’s coast, where the Sun never really dips below the horizon that time of year. The light was soft, almost dreamy. Used my Canon EOS 1DX with a 24-105mm lens, zoomed to 70mm, 1/60 shutter, ISO 100, f4. Got that vignette effect by tweaking the lens hood 180 degrees right in-camera. And no, I didn’t photoshop that unicorn float—it’s legit! The captain chucked it overboard, and it just floated into the frame. I was perched on the sailboat’s bow, no tripod, just holding steady.
