WTC memorial

Lest we forget.

Our hearts and thoughts are with the innocent victims and the family and friends they left behind.

We honour the fire fighters and rescue workers who gave their lives.

We salute their colleagues who continue to put themselves in harms's way.

Let their sacrifice be our spur to make the world a safer place.
Ed Galea, 12 Sept 2001.

Well, executed photograph. Unfortunately, nothing to do with you, I have visited the Memorial, and I find it a profoundly depressing place. I’ve been to many other monuments and came away, Hopeful, and actually joyful because of the way the tragedy inspired people. I only see that we have so horribly responded.to this tragedy

Hi Mark. I have a sobering experience when ever I visit the memorial. I led a major research project concerning 911 and the evacuation of the twin towers. As part of that project, my team and I interviewed 300 survivors and firefighters and listened to all the 911 calls from those trapped in the building. I was very moved by their stories and also inspired. It was inspiring to learn how people, even complete strangers helped each other and that it was not 'every man for himself' in a disaster, as Hollywood would have us believe. When I visit the memorial, I'm reminded not only of the horrors that man can inflict on man but also of the humanity, bravery and kindness we are capable of in the face of dire adversity.
