This photo is taken inside the only accessible lava chamber on planet earth. Located in Iceland, this volcano erupted long ago and clogged itself, providing an opportunity for us to go directly into its belly. It was a surreal experience; the lack of vertical lines across the chamber can create a unique sense of vertigo as your brain struggles to find a horizon to orient itself. Your surroundings, from floor to ceiling, are what's left after an eruption. Scorches of black from magma, yellows and oranges from sulfur in various stages of decay, and more spatter the walls. The fact you don't know where to look is the feature, not the bug.
I was pretty new to photography when I took this. I wish the photo was better but I hadn't learned the tricks for low light photography. Sharing not for the rating but just because this place was so darn unique and cool.
Taken on a Fuji XT30, XF18-55mm, F4.
