I don't take soulless studio lit with fancy makeup snapshots of people that show nothing and mean nothing. I eshew commercial-type portraiture all together. I can appreciate the editing talent of some portrait artists, but I still find them soulless. I watched a video of a gentleman going through his routine of taking portraits, and he chose his male friend. When I initially saw the photograph, I thought, "Gosh, what a handsome man," and then I saw him in real life. I also saw the photographer in real life as compared to his avatar, and neither of them looked like who they were, which to me is a complete shame.

If I see a portrait of somebody, I want to be able to see their soul. I want to see their eyes. I want to see them as they are in daily life, not a Hollywoodized version.
