Death Valley doesn't exactly have a reputation for being lush.
But give the desert the right amount of winter rain, and life finds every opportunity it can. Tiny yellow and purple wildflowers follow the washes and folds of these ancient badlands, creating threads of color across a landscape that usually appears almost barren.
For a few brief weeks, the desert becomes something entirely different.
