Lick of Flame

The Milky Way over the Drang Drung Glacier, Ladakh, India.
This photo was taken at 14,400 feet on a bitterly cold Himalayan night in a stiff wind that penetrated my outer jacket and fleece and chilled me to the bone. The light in the tent was provided by a willing companion. I wanted the glacier to look as if it were spilling out of the tongue of the Milky Way and I hope I managed to achieve the effect.
