Purple Water Bath

Petunias native to Mexico (Mexican Petunia) have larger blooms, reach taller heights, and with long spherical leaves are an overall more dramatic flowering plant. With lanky stems and fast growth, it differs from U.S. garden petunias. They may be divided at the roots or grown from seed. I have now had at least 4-5 plants with multiple bloom scapes over the years, once I discovered them from this Mexico trip.
This particular closeup shot was from a hacienda garden in the tiny village of Boca de Tomatlán, near Puerto Vallarta. The summer rainy season provides cooler temperatures and more blooms.
This purple shade seems to be the only color bloom in Mexico.
