The Four Camera Sensors Inside Huawei's P30 Pro Were All Made by Sony

Huawei’s new P30 Pro has been met with rave reviews online since its announcement, particularly for its low-light capabilities. They had previously hinted at Leica’s involvement, however, they’re keeping relatively quiet about all four of its cameras' imaging sensors being manufactured by Sony.

Courtesy of EE Times, a breakdown of the P30 Pro revealed a number of things, most notably what they’re calling a “full design win” for Sony.

The review reads:

Separating Huawei P30 Pro, more than anything else though, is its use of quad cameras. The new smartphone literally has four cameras. They include a main camera, plus cameras for wide-angle, Time-of-Flight, and a periscope view. All four use Sony CMOS image sensors.

The P30 Pro, which has been topping industry camera sensor tests, usually dethroning other Huawei models, operates an RYYB (Red, Yellow, Yellow, Blue) filter instead of the conventional RGB filter. Huawei claims the move is designed with better low-light performance in mind, and RYYB is a formula they say allows the equivalent to 40 percent more light. The camera is also the first smartphone using Sony’s Time-of-Light camera for autofocus.

The phone's camera boasts a maximum ISO of 409,600.

"All four use Sony CMOS image sensors." Why is this even on this website, most of the camera sensors are made by Sony, not only in Smartphones! And who even cares, a great sensor with bad software still makes bad pictures!

And the screen's probably made by samsung or LG, like the iPhone.

If they're working well, who gives a shit that Sony made them?

I won't by Huawei because it's Chinese government!

The name itself is the main reason not to consider owning it.
