My friend Nathan is a true pirate at heart. Every time there is a happening / party / event, he is there with his pirate costume and his good spirits !
The setup was 2 lastolite hotrod stripboxes, one to provide a rim light for the body and the hat. Another to camera right as the main light in the image.
I added a softlighter to camera left, with extremely low power, to provide a fill and a catchlight.
Nathan was at his first experience in front of the camera, this shot was made right after I asked him....''Show me your face if I stole your pirate loot''
