The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park Co. If you are a fan of Stephen King you know about the Stanley Hotel. King pretty much locked himself in a room in the Stanley and wrote "The Shining". Although the movie was not filmed here, if you want to get the full effect in this hotel that was built in the early 1900's; stay in one of these small rooms in the middle of January when hardly anyone is there and the place is quiet... It will make you think twice about closing your eyes. (Watch the movie first. Personal experience speaking)
