Chorten in Zanskar

A Chorten overlooking the Zanskar Valley, Ladakh, India
This shot was taken at about 14,000 feet on a mountainside overlooking the beautiful Zanskar Valley in Ladakh, India. It was in the early afternoon, and although there were clouds in the sky, the harsh sunlight would occasionally peek through. Not the best time of day for soft landscapes. The Zanskar Valley is high, cold and arid, I was well above the tree line, and there was very little vegetation to speak of. Except for the brilliant blue of the sky contrasting with the white clouds, the rest of the colour gamut was mostly dull greys and browns, and I thought a B/W rendition of this rocky landscape would make a more compelling picture.
