Here in this small city of central finland we have a group of photographer friends who constantly go out to hunt for auroras.

Had we been further north seeing auroras would not be such a problem where given that the skies are clear there are chances to see them even when the Kp index is very low. But i must admit there is a different feeling of satisfaction when you have to hunt for them.

This particular night the sky was very cloudy and the forecast had no signs that it would clear up. The Kp was forecasted to be around 6 and i had a hunch that the sky might clear up during midnight. So i ventured the dark on my own. I reached this place and started taking pictures. After about an hour of being there the clouds slowly started to clear and a faint band of aurora was clearly visible. It didn't take long for the band to be more prominent and occasional dancing began.

I took loads of picture that night but I like this one more. I was alone and so was that lone tree. We calmly enjoyed the grandeur and i am sure we both have our own stories of that night.
