Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Take Me In || Brooklyn, NY

With old pylons in the foreground leading into the Manhattan skyline, it's easy to see why this spot at Pier One of the Brooklyn Bridge Park is world-famous. One a recent trip to NCY, I woke up pre-dawn and took an Uber across the bridge, hoping for a good sunrise. I had researched the sun position prior to the shoot and knew that it would rise directly behind me, hopefully shining golden light onto the buildings. Any clouds reflecting color would be a bonus. The temperature was a balmy 17 degrees, but I forgot all about the cold when the sky started to catch fire. I used a 4 stop ND filter, allowing for a 30 second shutter speed. This smoothed out the water and gently streaked the clouds leading through the frame into the skyline. Single exposure, shot at 22mm f/14 ISO100, and edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.
