Endless || New York City, NY

No photography trip to New York is complete without a journey to the Top of the Rock at sunset. Though the temperature was hovering right around freezing, my wife and I made the trek up to the top observation deck of Rockefeller Center on the 70th floor. Inspired by Elia Locardi's sunset blend image in his Photographing the World III tutorial, I set up my camera attached to a Gorillapod on one of the small stone ledges jutting out. I found a composition I liked, adjusted my settings, and enjoyed the view as the sun set and the lights started to come on in the city. The sunset seemed to get better and better, with vibrant pinks, golds, and oranges filling the sky and passing clouds. I blended two frames together in Photoshop to composite the best of the sunset colors with the city lights. Shot with Canon 6D, 17-40 f/4.0L lens, 36mm ISO100, edited with Lightroom and Photoshop.
