Dammit, I bet you both know you're that freakin good.
Excellent lighting, great angle. Good job
I am so envious of you for shooting this!! This is beyond epic! Well done man! :)
Thanks for the comments guys. This was one of my first editorial shoots back in 2009, and as such I've always been fond of it. I hope I've grown as a photographer since then, but this image will always be special to me, and I'm happy others can appreciate it as well.
Nice. I like this a lot
I love aviation and this is a great representation of that. Man and machine.
What did you use for your off-camera lighting?
I used two Norman 400b packs at 400ws, one for main light one for rim light.
This is a beautiful photo.
The only issue is, was it cleared by the PAO prior to you shooting it? The military doesn't seem to like photos of their personnel with their names ( even nametags ) visible. Every time I've tried to work with a unit. I have to go through the PAO.
Hi Robert,
Yes, this was a magazine assignment cleared through the PA office, the Wing Commander's office, and Base Commander's office, then shot on the active flight line of DM AFB in Tucson.
Seems strange the light is hitting him from the right as you look at him yet the shadows are from the opposite way, plus the jet is in shadow, please enlighten me? or am I missing something?
Sadly this plane is being discontinued despite it's godlike durability
