Windmills of Consuegra, Spain

The windmills of Consuegra we’re built atop a hill in the town of Consuegra, Spain (40min south of Toledo), though some of the remains of windmills in the area date as far back as the 14 to 15th century these mills were built around the latter part of the 18 century to mid 19th century. Consuegra is located in La Mancha and the strong affiliation to Cervante’s epic “The Ingenious Gentleman Sir Quixote of La Mancha” permiates strongly in the region. You can almost see why an old knight, veteran of a 100 medieval battles would look at these and think them to be monsters.

When shooting the windmills I thought it a shame that a car had passed to the top to circle around, but when seeing the results I was very pleased, it’s as if Don Quixote and his loyal friend Sancho Panza had charged the windmills in spirit and in vain.
