The Dancer's Scars

My model for this session- Pam, is a local dance studio owner who has taught children in this community for decades. She recently handed over the reins of running the studio to a younger woman. At 58, Pam has been diagnosed with Parkinson's. It does not stop her from dancing although at times she needs something to help her with balance. While changing her shoes, she commented that her knees were ugly. I looked down and saw the most beautiful sight I'd ever seen. What a story these scars tell. She said she treasured every scar, bump and bruise she possessed as they were a rite of passage for a ballerina. Photo was taken with window light only.
