Petunias native to Mexico have larger blooms, and with long spherical leaves are an overall more dramatic flowering plant. With lanky stems and fast growth, it differs from U.S. garden petunias. They may be divided at the roots or grown from seed.
This particular closeup shot was from a hacienda garden in the tiny village of Boca de Tomatlan, near Puerto Vallarta. The summer rainy season provides cooler temperatures and more blooms.
This purple shade seems to be the only color bloom.
