Smoke produced by this summer's western wildfires sought to kill, maim or destroy huge swaths of what and where ordinarily fine landscapes exist. That, along with temperatures greater and more sustained than anything I'd previously experienced over thirty years of living in SE Utah contributed negatively too. My complaints aside, though, there were moments, however brief, when it was worth being out there.
