Rattlesnake Camouflage

I used the same technique here as with my image “Guardian of the Canyon (all bluff)”. However not for the same reason, I needed to get closer without getting any closer. In order to fill the frame which my 400mm would not accomplish at it’s ,minimal focusing distance of 12 feet (3.6 meters). My next shorter focal length lens was a 200mm was about the same. Considering my subject this was not a safe option, in my opinion, especially considering the perspective I wanted. Eye level. Even with several feet distance between us my adrenal glands were in overdrive strictly primordial. It took quite a bit of effort to control my breathing for a still image. It was getting darker by the second.
