The stunning landscape and the old village with its traditional houses has made the island of Mykines a popular travel destination for tourists. Mykines is also famous for it's large puffin colonies and the islands' rich bird life has made it a popular destination for bird watchers. The lighthouse is about an hours walk from the village, but the spectacular view from the lighthouse makes the trip well worth the effort.
