Port House Antwerp

Address: Zaha Hadidplein 1, 2030 Antwerp, Belgium

The Port House or Havenhuis is a government building in Antwerp. It consists of the building of a former fire station and a new building designed by the Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, which was completed in 2016. The building is located on the Kattendijkdok in the port of Antwerp and houses the Antwerp Port Authority, among others.
The most striking feature of the Port House is the façade of the new part of the building, which consists of triangular elements and was placed on top of the old fire station. The transparent and frosted panes of this part of the building are lined up flat at the front of the building and develop an undulating surface on the flanks up to the rear part of the building. The resulting light reflections are characteristic of the building. The resulting futuristic impression of the new building contrasts with the classic design of the former fire station.

Wow! What a great image.

Thank you very much, Harry, for your kind comment. Greeting Herbert

Great shot and a great buidling. Zaha Hadid passed away way to early (2016), but her work lives on.

Yes, she was a great architect. I'm sure she would have designed many more great buildings. Thank you very much, Edwin, for your kind Recognition. Greetings Herbert

Unbelievable, congrats!

Thank you very much, Juergen, for your friendly comment. Greeting Herbert

Beautiful frame.

Just curious about the weather and sky. Was it this dark and grey? Was it desaturated in processing?

Of course I would have been very happy if you had said something constructive about my picture. But I will answer your question. The sky is gray for a reason, namely to make the building stand out more. When the picture was taken, the sky was bright blue.
Thank you, Vijay, for your kindness in looking at my picture. Greetings Herbert
