This photo is part of a personal project I'm working on. I'm calling it "Main St. NC." I'm going to the many different small towns of North Carolina and photographing them. Mainly focusing on and around the "main st." area. Most of these towns have a main st. Many of these towns have similar old brick buildings and other interesting architecture that has been repurposed.
This time I was in the charming little town of Graham, North Carolina. I love these types of neon signs. This is the Sutton's Drug Store building. The original building built in 1901 was "Wrike Drugs." I couldn't find when the neon sign was put up. But the "original" Wrike Drugs sign is still on the building.
Kyle, great "Main St" images and here I thought they were going to be a closer look of Swansboro.
I agree about the neon sign especially compared with the newer Coca Cola sign. With the age of the neon and seeing the coke sign it made me thing of the days when drugstore had soda fountains.
Just curious ;) are longtime residence called "Graham crackers" ... sorry I just couldn't resist that one. Now intended in bad taste ... I'd better go now ;)
Have a good one.
Hahaha, I don't know if they would like that but I think it's funny. This drug store is old school with a grill and other food, IDK if they have an old school soda fountain. It was closed when I was there. I haven't done my hometown of Swansboro yet, but I plan on it at some point. Maybe around Christmas when it's all decorated.
