Whenever I go to this pier, I look for interesting people doing what they love, fishing. I've seen this man on several occasions in the past years.
I haven't been back since the start of the pandemic until this weekend. I was thinking of him and several other regulars and hoping for the best. I found him in his regular fishing spot and he looked exactly the same as when I last saw him...down to the same hat.
I managed to get several portraits that captured his essence, that of a hard-working and dedicated fisherman.
Congratulations on this outstanding portrait. The weathered expression and the textured details in the fisherman’s face and attire tell a story of resilience and experience. The soft lighting enhances the depth and emotion, while the muted background keeps the focus squarely on the subject. What I love most is how this image captures not just a person but a life lived, rich with character and narrative. This is a truly remarkable and evocative capture.

Paul, I apologize for my delayed response. I'm new to this site and am just now getting the hang of it! I really appreciate your kind critique on this portrait. I have several photos of this man but this one is my favorite.
Real life portrait perfection. Eye contact, weathered hat and hands. An expert fisherman at work.
