This image, "Sicilian Countryside Traffic Jam", from our 2012 trip to Italy was taken with a "travel zoom" bridge camera, the Nikon Coolpix P510. Our first trip anywhere, and we went big, spending 22 days traveling throughout Italy and Sicily, seeing many wonderful sights and searching family roots.
On this particular day we were driving across Sicily, on a mountain pass road, shortly after cresting the top we came upon a "traffic jam" as pictured here. The "mama" with her switch and socks pulled high, slowly, yet steadily, moving her cows down the road. The eight cows using the entire width of the road not permitting anything to pass from either direction. They were followed by a tractor pulling a trailer, we presumed another family member ensuring no high speed drivers coming upon "mama" and her cows from behind. Then there was us behind and one other car coming from the other direction, patiently waiting for the "jam" to clear.
There wasn't anything special about taking this image, no tripod, no filters, no special lighting or gear, but for us it tells an interesting story and is a lasting memory of that trip!
