In 2006, in Tucson Arizona, of all places, was a big interest in modelling. TV modelling and fashion design competition shows were novel and proved to be inspiring.
Today, there are all types of people who are being used for ads, fashion and movies, and are being paid pennies to the dollar, compared to these industries' heyday.
I'd like to think that my practice, of shooting 'regular' people, in a stylish way, caught on, but I'm saddened by the financial inequality!
This 'test shoot' of Malaika, is one look, of three.
She was a 'new face' model with ArizonaModelManagement.com (AZMM) in Tucson, AZ.
I first met the owners of AZMM, while a hair & make-up artist, in the mid 90s. After I became a photographer at the start of the 2000s, I started testing AZMM's models, and this is one example of many.
My package deal of, one to three rolls, consisted of:
Hair & Make-up
Styling (with model's clothes and/or clothes I made)
Film, Developing, Editing and Retouching
Portra 160
Nikon f3
Model - Malaika
Location - Tucson, AZ
