tears of a clown

originally i was going to be a clown throwing up colored paint but that just wasn't having the right impact with me mentally when i was drawing it up. so i went with the suicidal clown instead. at first i was going to use the replica Desert Eagle that i have for the gun but wanted to keep it dark but funny so i went with the toy colt revolver and added the BANG! flag to it that i took from another gun that i ordered but didn't like the look of

while not all the paint on the wall in the final shot is real, a good majority of it is. i took a basting syringe and filled it with various colored acrylic paints and then spattered them against the white walls of my garage...yep, that's gonna be there forever on my wall the same way i still find feathers in my garage from my _feather_ shot a few years ago. after shooting i decided it needed a bit more impact splashes so i added some in photoshop using what was on the wall and cloning it...so technically it is the same paint.

i could not get the right pose as i didn't want anything too dark but i didn't want anything to silly so i tried a lot of combinations until i thought i had what i needed. but after looking through what i had shot the night before i decided i hated all of the poses i did and also didn't care for the lighting so i reshot it again the following night and got what i needed. all total i took over 400 shots to get the one i wanted and that is what you see in the GIF is the entire process from start to finish of both nights (it might take a bit to load because of that, so be patient)

when it was all shot and i was happy it was off to photoshop to add some grit and effects like add the extra paint splatter, clown makeup and also change the color of my boots to yellow and flare out the toes like real clown shoes.

this one had me cracking up through most of the shoot as i would check what i was getting in between shots. as always please feel free to ask any questions as i am here to help any way i can

...enjoy
