I first heard of 52Frames on Reddit and joined a few months later in December, 2022. I liked the concept, but for some reason I didn’t think I could commit to a long-term project. As the New Year approached, I asked myself “Hey, what if...”.
I expected I would only stick with it for a couple of weeks, but as the weeks became months, I kept submitting photos. It turned out to be the most significant thing I did during 2023.
Cecily Vermote - Week 28: Abstract (2023)
It's Easy
The genius part of this project is that it keeps things simple. Take a picture each week and hit the submit button. If you learn something in the process – a new technique or skill – even better! There are no obligations other than participating.
As photographers, it's in our nature to constantly look around us and spot photo opportunities. There's always something to capture, a click here, a click there. What if we were challenged daily to accomplish a specific photo goal? Would you risk your inner creativity? At 52Frames, that's what goes on every week.
Stefani Feingold Cuschnir - Week 19: Architecture (2022)
The weekly challenges are designed to push you into the unknown; whether it involves color or concept, you will stretch yourself to new depths, ideas, and experiences. Constantly thinking about how to choose the right lens, the right light, or a better composition pushes our creativity in ways. It's far easier to push our creative boundaries when we have a specific goal set before us each week. It's a fun way to grow and stretch your talents.
I started as a phone photographer and learned so much about composition, color, editing, and technique. Eventually I purchased a “real” camera. It’s been an amazing personal journey for me. 52Frames has given me a reason to take time for myself, chat with my mini-groups for support and have a fun weekly distraction. I have made new “Framer” friends across the globe, some I’ve actually met in person. It’s an incredible community and there is nothing out there like it.
François Poitras - Week 32: Night Photography (2023)
There were many times throughout this past year where my desire to get out and use my camera waxed and waned, but my commitment to keeping my streak alive for the weekly challenge kept me shooting.
Come join 52Frames, you won’t regret it! (Plus, it’s free.)

"Committing to a Weekly Photo Challenge is the Best Decision You Can Make For 2024"
I do not agree. There are actually many other decisions I can make in 2024 that will be far better decisions than participating in a weekly photo challenge.
It would behoove you not to make such blanket and absolute statements about the decisions that other people make. You do not know me. How, then, can you make such an absolute statement about my photoraphy? You don't even know what my photographic objectives are for 2024, so how could you know that a weekly challenge would benefit me more than anything else?
I'm sure you're aware but the internet is full of articles and video's making blanket statements about what photography gear people should use, what settings to use etc. No need to get so triggered though, like it's personally directed at you.
An article is directed to each and every reader within the intended readership. Hence, it needs to be worded in such a way as to "fit" each and every reader.
There are so many titles that would still convey the author's message, yet be accurate.
Using "qualifier" words and phrases such as "might", "could be", "may be", etc. can ensure that a title still carries the message, but in a way that can not be proven to be inaccurate.
Blanket statements are ALWAYS wrong! :)
<Blanket statements are ALWAYS wrong! :)> - and this is such a blanket statement.
yes, of course! I made that tongue-in-cheek, as evidenced by the :) and the capitalization ..... hopefully you realized the humour I was attempting to make here ... not sure how I could have made it more obvious
Tough room. Just don't do it.
This looks very interesting, I'm going to join; thanks for sharing!
You guys must be real fun at parties
Why would I want to go to a party? I have much better things to do with my time.
I joined early 2023, and yes, some weeks it's been a case of submitting a placeholder to keep my streak, but most weeks I've really enjoyed the creative process, and have learned so much these past 15 or so months, I plan on continuing this journey.
