Can a $148 Full Frame Autofocus Lens Produce Good Images?

It sounds too good to be true, but the TTArtisans AF 32mm f/2.8 lens offers full frame coverage, autofocus, and the promise of good image quality for $148. Can it actually deliver good performance and image quality at such a low price? This excellent video review takes a look at everything you can expect.

Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this great video review takes a look at the TTArtisans AF 32mm f/2.8 lens for Nikon Z mount cameras. At $148, this is one of the most affordable lenses on the market right now, though it still comes with a nice set of features, including:

  • STM motor for quiet and smooth autofocus
  • Minimum focusing distance of 1.6 feet
  • 9 elements in 6 groups
  • 7 diaphragm blades
  • Retractable lens hood
  • USB interface for firmware updates
  • Metal construction
  • Weight: 6.9 oz / 196 g

Altogether, the 32mm f/2.8 performs impressively well considering it ridiculously low price, and its very small size and light weight are additional positive attributes. There are some downsides, like the lack of weather-sealing (something to consider for landscape work) and the slow (though accurate) autofocus, but overall, it looks like a real deal considering what you get. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts on the lens.
