Can Tamron's 35mm f/1.4 Outperform the Canon 35mm f/1.4 at Half the Price?

Canon's 35mm f/1.4L II USM lens is known for being sharp, with a beautiful rendering and strong performance. Nonetheless, like most Canon L lenses, it is rather expensive. Tamron's SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD undercuts the Canon's price significantly. However, can its image quality and performance match the more expensive option? This great video review compares both to see which is the best option for your own work.

Coming to you from Anita Sadowska, this awesome video review compares the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM lens to the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD. The Canon option is an impressive performer (and was one of my favorite lenses I have tested), but at $1,799, it is a significant investment. At $899, the Tamron is half the price of the Canon, making it a very appealing option for anyone who does not want to shell out almost $2,000 for a 35mm prime. In the last few years, Tamron has established themselves alongside Sigma as a manufacturer of impressive lenses that undercut the prices of first-party manufacturers, often by significant amounts. While they don't necessarily always outperform first-party options, they often come more than close enough. Check out the video above for Sadowska's full thoughts.

Wouldn't say outpeform but it's just as good, definitely no differences noticeable in the real world even in challenging conditions like astrophotography.
