The Canon RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens replaces a hidden gem in the older EF-S lineup, giving APS-C shooters a very affordable wide angle zoom lens suitable for a variety of applications. This excellent first look video takes a look at the new lens and the sort of performance and image quality one can expect from it.
Coming to you from Gordon Laing, this great video takes a first look at the Canon RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens. At $329, it is quite an affordable lens, with Canon calling it the "ideal lens for vloggers, travelers, and general shooters." Its features include:
- Minimum Focusing Distance: 5.5 inches (14 cm) when using autofocus, 3.4 inches (8.6 cm) using manual focus at 10mm
- Maximum magnification: 0.5x at 10mm using manual focus
- 12 elements in 10 groups
- 2 UD elements and 1 aspherical element
- Super Spectra Coating
- 7 aperture blades
- 4 stops of optical image stabilization (6 in tandem with in-body image stabilization)
- STM autofocus motor
- Focusing/Control Ring
The RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM is expected in December, and given its portable size and affordable price, I would not be surprised to see it become a fairly popular option for enthusiast shooters. Check out the video above for Laing's full thoughts on the lens.
All this budget canon lens like f/4.5-6.3 are a non-sense (not sharp or not good colours). How can someone like photography using a lens like that? To use that, it's better use a smartphone.
