TTArtisan has gained a reputation for creating some of the most affordable lenses out there, which makes their lineup intriguing for any creative who wants decent performance at prices that will not hurt their bank account. One of their latest such lenses is the 27mm f/2.8, which offers a common focal length and autofocus for only $149. Can it still offer good performance and image quality at that price? This excellent video review takes a look.
Coming to you from Wes Perry, this great video review takes a look at the TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 lens for Fujifilm X, Sony E, and Nikon Z APS-C cameras. At only $149 and with autofocus, the 27mm f/2.8 is impressively affordable, but it still brings with it a nice gamut of features, including:
- Compatibility with eye-tracking autofocus modes
- Short and light pancake design for extra portability
- Stepping AF motor suitable for both photo and video applications
- Minimum focusing distance of 13.8 inches
- Seven-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh
- Rear lens caps with USB-C interface for improved performance via firmware updates
All in all, the 27mm f/2.8 looks like a very decent performer considering its ultra-low price. Check out the video above for Perry's full thoughts on the lens.
Why no Micro 4/3?
Unfortunately most companies don't see any worth in investment in it anymore, even though this would be a perfect lens for m4/3 given its size and vignetting on APS-C.
