Reblum: The Secret to Natural, High-Quality Portrait Retouching

Retouching is the one thing that takes time and is generally the most extensive part of any photo shoot for any portrait photographer. If we had more time, we could focus on doing what we love: creating more photographs, but retouching can take that time away. What if I told you that there is software that produces natural results, is easy to use, and saves time? Well, there is—it's Reblum.

What Is Reblum?

Reblum is a professional skin retouching tool for portrait photographers and retouchers that creates flawless results. Reblum solves the portrait photographer's biggest enemy: time. This issue is resolved with Reblum, as it is a seamless, efficient, and locally processed solution that delivers natural results.

Why Does Reblum Standout from Competitors?

In the world, there is no shortage of software for retouchers. Reblum stands out from its competitors in a few ways. For one, it seamlessly integrates with the most popular editing tools for photographers: Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and Capture One, all while maintaining a smooth workflow. Competitors rely on cloud processing, and Reblum is offline, saving photographers from more cloud expenses with unlimited exports and no restrictions. No more buying more credits to export images. The best thing about Reblum? It doesn't use your photographs to train Reblum AI. In a world where AI is rampant, we know companies are using our pictures to train their AI algorithms—not Reblum!

Simplicity is what many software programs lack and what many photographers want. Reblum does this by simplifying retouching by consolidating the performance of multiple plugins with one-click editing. Who wants to pay more for software to be updated with the newest algorithm or features? No one raised their hand. Reblum continuously updates its retouching performance, and users receive free updates on their AI models. Reblum has an intuitive approach with two styles: natural and fashion. It uses a few fine-tuned sliders, all while offering an effortless experience and not sacrificing control or quality, and again, it won’t use your photographs to train its AI.

Results

Reblum uses two styles: natural and fashion. While many software programs create an unnatural feel to your images after processing, Reblum's two styles have the most natural feel. The natural style removes the prominent imperfections, while fashion gives it a more glossy look, and each style provides natural and superior results. If you are a photographer who wants to streamline your retouching workflow and create a natural look, Reblum will deliver the high-quality results you are looking for every time.

Speed and Quality Presets

  • High Quality: All skin is processed fully according to your chosen style.
  • Balanced: Facial skin is fully processed with your selected style, while body skin is always set to natural.
  • Fast: Only facial skin is processed; body skin is skipped.
  • Ultra-Fast: Processes only prominent skin concerns on the face without modifying the texture.

Value and Pricing

In a world where it seems like everything is a subscription, I am surprised we don’t have a subscription to start our cars! Reblum has two approaches to its software: $11.95/month when billed annually, with a 7-day refund period, or purchasing a lifetime license for $249. You can also try a monthly subscription for $24.90/month (no refunds). Now, that's what I am talking about! I am getting tired of everything being a subscription.

I looked at a few competitors: Retouch4me and Evoto. Are you ready for some confusion? Retouch4me offers a subscription model ranging from a monthly cost of $20.00 to $90.00, depending on the number of retouches you need, and a perpetual license of $124.00. Here, it gets confusing and expensive from another competitor, Evoto; they love credits. They have two models: Pay-as-you-go and annual subscription.

Let’s first start with the pay-as-you-go model. You pay anywhere from $49 for 200 credits to $459 for 3,600 credits with support for two devices. For an annual subscription, you pay $80 for 800 credits to $1,205 for 24,000 credits with support for three devices, and they do allow unused credits to roll over as long as you are subscribed to their services.

In the long run, Reblum is a straightforward pricing model with no confusion and a great price. That's what we need more of!

Let's look at the value proposition when we compare Reblum to others on the market. Overall, I like the value you are receiving. No credits, simple software, and two purchase models. It’s a great value for software that does an excellent job of creating natural results without the hassle of having to redo images multiple times.

Strengths

  • User interface: Reblum has an intuitive design that makes it accessible for beginner photographers as well as advanced users. There is little to the software. If you're used to advanced software, you might feel cheated, but since it provides such superior and natural results, there is no need for a bunch of sliders to adjust the image after processing.
  • Speed: I tested several combinations of styles and presets within Reblum. Overall, it was pretty fast, even with large files. I was happy with the speed!
  • Offline Enhancement: No internet connection is required to use this! This is an excellent feature, as you may want to edit images on a flight or when no internet is available. Nothing is more frustrating than slow or non-existent internet when you need to use your software.
  • One-click processing: Literally, one click! With one click, you can instantly batch process from one to a thousand images with no additional steps.

Weaknesses

  • Might Be Too Simple (for some): For most, Reblum is what we are looking for: simple and easy, all while providing superior results with one click. When I say too simple, for some, if you're used to advanced software with many options like sliders and presets, you may not like it! Once you see the superior results, you will soon realize you don’t need all the extras!

In the End

Reblum is a tool that will save even the most avid portrait photographer time while providing the highest-quality natural-looking results. Try Reblum for $11.95/month (billed annually) with a 7-day refund; if you love it, you can purchase a lifetime license for $249. It is software full of strengths and virtually no weaknesses—only for some. I would highly recommend you give it a try. You will be surprised by how well it performs, and in the end, it saves you so much time while providing some of the most superior results I have ever seen from retouching software. No more fake and plastic-looking skin!

IMO, it's pretty light in features for $249 (lifetime). However, it's on sale for $174 until the end of year.

If I didn't already have retouching software, primarily Retouch4Me and Evoto, I'd probably jump on the $174 deal.
