A Review of Sony's Impressive New FE 14mm f/1.8 GM Lens

Sony's new FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lens offers an extremely wide maximum aperture for such a focal length, enabling both photographers and filmmakers impressive creative capabilities and looking like a dream for events and astrophotographers. This excellent video review takes a look at the lens and the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in real-world usage.

Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this awesome video review takes a look at the new Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lens. Up until now, the only such lens available was Sigma's 14mm f/1.8 Art, which I reviewed and was a huge fan of. The unusual combination of an ultra-wide focal length and very wide aperture enabled creative explorations that simply were not possible otherwise and improved technical image quality by allowing you to use lower ISO levels than necessary with other lenses, making it highly desirable for things like astrophotography or low-light events coverage. It can be difficult to create effective images with such an unusual lens, but when you get things right, it rewards you with unique images, plus if you are a gear nerd, it is a ton of fun to use. Check out the video above for Abbott's full thoughts on the lens.
