A good wide-aperture 35mm lens is by far one of the most useful many photographers can have in their bag, and there is no certainly no dearth of options out there. This excellent video review compares two of the best options available, the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM and the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art, including their autofocus, bokeh, image quality, and more.
Coming to you from Tom Calton, this great video review compares the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM to the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art. It is quite rare to see a Sigma lens that is more expensive than a first-party manufacturer's flagship version of the same lens, but you also get a wider aperture in exchange for that along with a variety of other features. Of course, the Sony 35mm is no slouch. As part of their premier G Master line, the lens features their best autofocus performance, image quality, weather-sealing, and more. Beyond optical performance, though, it is well worth considering other factors. For example, while the Sony is a fairly manageable 19.2 oz (524 g), the Sigma tips the scales at 38.45 oz (1,090 g), more than double that of the former, which could have an appreciable impact on long days of shooting. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Calton.
