How Photographers Can Grow Their Instagram Following Without Reels

As a photographer, like it or not, your social media can be the lifeblood of your business, and even if it isn't, it could act as the social proof you need. So, here are some of the latest tips to grow your Instagram following without having to film Reels.

When I first started photography, I treated social media as essential, which in many ways, it is. But, somewhere along the line, I became jaded with it and felt as if it was taking more than it was giving back. This was true for me, but it isn't for everyone and I suspect there were steps I could have taken to improve my situation and continue growing. The fact of the matter is that growing your audience is difficult.

In this video by Evan Ranft, he shared a number of tips and tricks to increase the number of eyes on what you create, but one that stands out to me is buried at the start: following Instagram's CEO. Playing to the algorithm can feel like an impossible task a lot of the time, but it's often because you're playing catch-up. By following the CEO, you can get insight into the direction the platform is headed, what's important to the head of the company, and by extension, how you can change your approach before the masses.
